EAGE's Alfred Wegener award to Jonny Hesthammer

Rocksource Vice President of Technology, Dr. Jonny Hesthammer, has received EAGE's prestigious Alfred Wegener award for 2007. The award is given for outstanding contribution over a period of time to the scientific and technical advancement of one or more of the disciplines in the organization, particularly petroleum geoscience and engineering.

The Wegener Award for 2007 was presented to Jonny Hesthammer in recognition of his achievements as a researcher focusing on the use of electromagnetic and seismic data for hydrocarbon detection and as an educator in rekindling student enthusiasm for the geological, geophysical and reservoir technology aspects of oil and gas operations.

In April 2007, Hesthammer received the SPE award for best presentation during a conference in Bergen. This new award confirms the recognition Hesthammer receives from the larger industry community for the work done in relation to improving exploration efficiency, and it also illustrates that the Rocksource organisation is very well positioned to stay in the forefront of exploration technology application and to deliver exciting results in the future.

EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) is Europe's largest professional association for geoscientists and engineers with more than 10,000 members.
