ROCKSOURCE ASA (ECUANOR) AND STAOIL ASA COOPERATES

Rocksource ASA and Statoil ASA have entered into an agreement for jointly developing EM software.

Rocksource ASA has, through a joint industry project, established collaboration with Statoil ASA for developing software solutions to handle electromagnetic`EM` data for hydrocarbon detection. The software company Interaction AS will be responsible for developing the software platform.

`This agreement is important as it enables the establishment of a common platform for handling EM data. In addition, the companies will be able to exchange EM-related knowledge and experiences related to processing of EM data says Chief Technology Officer Jonny Hesthammer of Rocksource.

Rocksource has, in addition to their own developed EM processing algorithms, established a new standard for complete integration of EM and seismic data and demonstrated this to Statoil.

This project will be important to develop the next generation of software and work processes for the optimal use of EM data says Hesthammer.

The companies participating in the joint industry project do not have common commercial goals apart from the development of better software solutions for their respective E&P activities. Jonny Hesthammer is also professor at the University of Bergen (UofB) and involved in a Rocksource ASA financed EM research project at the Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research at UofB.
