According to Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Jonny Hesthammer, the company has carried out detailed EM modeling studies over a wide range of different prospects/leads to ensure the suitability of using EM technology in the relevant areas. The company’s proprietary system, Rocksource Discover, has been used for this purpose. Hesthammer states that “The UKCS application process has proven highly suitable for testing Rocksource Discover’s capabilities for screening EM suitable areas and carry out detailed pre-acquisition EM analyses of identified prospects/leads, including uncertainty analyses. Provided awards, Rocksource will use the system further to ensure optimized value of information from EM data in our decision making process by carrying out detailed pre- and post-EM acquisition analyses.”.
Gregor Maxwell, VP Exploration, believes that the UK still holds significant exploration opportunities, and that EM technology as applied by Rocksource will be an important tool to test this potential. The 24th Round is the first step in the Rocksource strategy to build a portfolio of exploration opportunities which are suitable for its technology and is now focusing on the NCS in preparation for the upcoming APA 2006, contingent upon the companies prequalification.
The company expects the Department of Trade and Industry to announce the awards for the round during Q3, 2006.
