NCS Exploration

Rocksource currently holds 8 licenses offshore Norway consisting 18 blocks or part blocks. The company was awarded Norwegian licenses for the first time in the APA 2006 where it was awarded two licenses. Most of the company’s licences on the NCS contain low risk, high value prospectivity, with robust EM anomalies associated with the prospectivity. Offshore Norway has significant resources yet to be found (~30Bboe, NPD recent estimate) and Rocksource is actively exploring for opportunities to test with its proprietary EM technology. The current exploration strategy is to continue to participate in licensing rounds on the NCS and add blocks to be tested with EM. The exploration strategy also includes pre-investing in EM acquisition by testing prospects in open acreage in order to prioritize areas for the rounds. Detailed information on the different NCS licences can be found by visiting the links to the left.

On the 30th April 2009, Rocksource was awarded 3 further licences on the NCS. These licenses were all tested with CSEM in 2007, in preparation for the round and represent the high graded blocks resulting from that screening process. Each block contain low risk, high value prospectivity and each contain robust CSEM anomalies associated with the prospectivity.

Rocksource has now tested the prospectivity in both APA 2006 licenses and the APA 2007 award PL 456 with EM data. PL 416 was found positive and has progressed to the next exploration phase. PL 441 and PL 456 were found negative and have been relinquished. EM data will also form part of the evaluation of the APA 2008 acreage, awarded earlier in 2009.
