PL 506 S, PL 506 BS & PL 506 CS
Blocks 31/11, 26/2, 26/5 & 26/8 (above Base Cretaceous)
These licenses are located in the Stord Basin in the North Sea, east of the Jotun and Grane Fields. The licenses are stratigraphically divided and comprise the stratigraphy above Base Cretaceous. The main license PL 506 S was awarded in APA 2008, whereas the extensions PL 506 BS & CS were awarded in APA 2010 with work programmes following that of the main license.
The license group consists of:
Rocksource (operator): 50%
Front Exploration AS: 30%
Petoro: 20%
Work programme
• Year 1-3: Acquire 3D seismic over the prospective area and decide on drill or drop.
• Year 4-5: Drill well and decide on development.
• Year 6-7: Submit PDO.
Current status
The 3D seismic has been acquired and processed and the interpretation is ongoing. The license will be matured towards a drill or drop decision by the end of 2011. Given a positive outcome it can be ready for exploration drilling in 2012.
