This license is located in the Barents Sea on the very southern part of the Bjarmeland Platform/eastern edge of the Hammerfest Basin on trend with the Goliat and Tornerose discoveries to the west and the Nucula discovery to the southeast. Several prospects have been identified within the license, with prospectivity present at multiple reservoir levels. Prior to application Rocksource tested the main prospects in the license by acquiring CSEM data. After processing of the data Rocksource has concluded that resistivity anomalies are associated with the prospects, and the observed anomalies are likely to be caused by hydrocarbons.
The license group consists of:
GDF Suez E&P Norge AS (Operator): 30%
Front Exploration: 20%
North Energy AS: 20%
Rocksource ASA: 20%
Repsol: 10%
In October 2011 GDF Suez E&P Norge AS completed drilling of the Heilo exploration well (7124/4-1 S). The well was concluded dry.
The primary exploration target for the well was to prove petroleum in Jurassic and Triassic reservoir rocks (Realgrunnen subgroup and Snadd formation). The secondary exploration target was to prove petroleum in the Middle and Lower Triassic (Kobbe, Klappmyss and Havert formations). The well encountered reservoir rocks with good reservoir quality in the Realgrunnen subgroup. In the secondary exploration targets, reservoir rocks of satisfactory reservoir quality were encountered.
This was the first exploration well in production licence 530.
